This perimeter open drain allows water to run into a storm sewer through a network of inlets at various locations. On the left is a tricycle with an open cart at the side used for transporting goods. In the background can be seen a Chinese woman dressed in a cotton samfu, a suit consisting of a high-necked jacket and loose trousers, and wearing wooden clogs. She is holding a bamboo pole and appears to be stirring a pot on a stove.
