Porphant Ouyyanont was an Associate Professor of Economics, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) in Nonthaburi, Thailand. He was born in Buriram in the Northeast Province of Thailand as the son of a civil servant in the Ministry of Interior. He received his BA and MA in Economics at Thammasat University. Upon completion of his master’s degree, he started his career as an academic in the School of Economics, STOU in 1987. In addition, he was a Visiting Research Fellow attached to the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University.
The interview was conducted when he was attached to ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute as its Visiting Senior Fellow.
