CreatorDorothy PelzerDescriptionThis detail seems to match the description found on page 40 of the reference given below except that the handles look more like stone than wood. The description is "One entrance to the house has wooden handles on either side and a large wooden step or "seat". By leaning back into the house, whilst gripping the handles, women used to give birth on to the springy bamboo floor. They were sheltered from the public gaze by a palm-leaf screen".
