DescriptionZhu Rongji was appointed Premier of the State Council, People's Republic of China, in March 1998.
Born in October 1928, in Changsha, Hunan Province, he studied at the Electrical Machinery Department of Qinghua University from 1947 to 1951, and graduated as an electrical engineer. While at Qinghua University, he joined the New Democratic Youth Alliance.
